She is currently working at the San Antonio Express-News as a homepage editor for the newspaper’s two websites: ExpressNews.com and mySA.com. Her previous roles include a digital reporter and a digital producer for mySA.com.
Her skills include content management, homepage programming, headline writing, SEO, social media, engagement and newsroom coordination for major news events, such as the immediate effects of Hurricane Harvey in San Antonio. Since taking over the ExpressNews.com homepage in April 2018, she has helped implement a strategy that has increased total visits by 62 percent in one year. In 2015, she graduated from Texas A&M University-San Antonio, majoring in communications-journalism. In 2013, she graduated from San Antonio College with a communications degree. At both schools, she worked on college newspapers The Mesquite and The Ranger, where she held leadership positions, helped manage newsroom staff, assigned stories, copy-edited and wrote articles. Outside of the newsroom, she is an avid runner who has completed one marathon and four half-marathons. A pet lover, she volunteers at San Antonio's Animal Care Services to help where she can (but mostly to hang out with animals). She is also a sponsor for Unbound, an international nonprofit that helps provide material goods and encouragement for impoverished communities in 18 countries. Contact.rebeccalsalinas15@gmail.com
